Leveraging supercomputing for efficient parameter estimation in hydrologic modeling
Short Bio
Sahib is a recipient of the Dean’s Research Award for Fall 2024 and Winter 2025. During Fall 2024, his research focused on enhancing parameter estimation in hydrologic modeling by leveraging high-performance computing. By calibrating model parameters for approximately 1,000 catchments across North America, he identified spatial patterns that offer valuable insights into regional hydrologic processes. His work combines supercomputing, geospatial analysis, and programming to advance large-scale hydrologic modeling.
In Winter 2025, Sahib developed an interactive data visualization platform, Hydroview, to support the interpretation of hydrologic model simulation results. The platform dynamically displays model outputs on a geospatial map, enabling researchers to explore spatial variability and perform comparative analyses across different regions. By bridging advanced modeling with intuitive visualization, Sahib’s work makes complex hydrologic data more accessible and actionable.
