Short Bio
Merhawi is a PhD student in Water Resources Engineering at the University of Alberta. During his master’s studies, he modeled inflows to culverts from ungauged small catchments using the Distance Distribution Dynamics (DDD) hydrologic model. His master thesis focused on examining the effects of snow storage and snowmelt dynamics on inflow modeling using high-resolution datasets. His current research centers on hydrologic–hydraulic modeling to improve ice-jam flood mapping under a changing climate. In his spare time, he enjoys reading fiction and listening to music.
