Evaluating machine learning and process-based hydrologic models: A case study of the Bow at Banff basin

Short Bio

Zhihong is a recipient of the Dean’s Research Award for Fall 2024. His research explores the use of machine learning in hydrologic modeling, focusing on applying Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models to the Bow at Banff basin. His project aims to compare the performance of LSTM models with traditional process-based hydrologic models, offering insights into their effectiveness. Through this work, Zhihong is gaining valuable skills in high-performance computing, machine learning, programming, and data analysis.
